Dr. Ali Gurbuz, assistant professor in Electrical and Computer Engineering and Dr. John Ball, associate professor in ECE, presented a two-day artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) workshop June 9 and 10, 2022, to graduate students participating in the 2022 Mississippi State University/USDA Summer Research Experience Program. The program is sponsored by the US Department of Agriculture (USDA) Agricultural Research Service (ARS) and provides students the opportunity to work under Mississippi State University faculty conducting research in a high-performance computing environment, as well as building connections with USDA for postdoctoral research positions. The AI/ML seminar topics included the history of machine learning, classification, regression, and image processing using convolutional neural networks. MSU’s Geosystems Research Institute is hosting the summer program at Mississippi State University’s High-Performance Computer Collaboratory.
